PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT CONCEPT
SLIPZ — Medical Scrubs Concept
Slipz is a performance-focused healthcare underscrub brand designed to support medical professionals through long shifts with ergonomic back support, breathable compression, and modular insert panels. The project rethinks traditional scrubs by combining wellness, mobility, and sustainability into a functional garment system built for healthcare workers’ everyday physical demands..
Presentation Deck
Slipz started as a response to something we noticed pretty quickly while researching healthcare apparel: scrubs have become more stylish over the years, but not necessarily more supportive. A lot of healthcare professionals spend 10 to 12 hours on their feet, constantly lifting, bending, and moving, yet most performance improvements in scrubs stop at moisture-wicking fabric or stretch. Our goal was to explore what healthcare apparel could look like if it was designed more like functional performance wear, specifically around posture, physical strain, and long-term comfort.
The project focused on creating a modular performance underscrub system with interchangeable support panels that could adapt to different levels of physical demand. We spent a lot of time balancing the technical side with wearability because we didn’t want it to feel medical or restrictive. Visually, we leaned into a cleaner and softer design language that still communicated function without looking overly clinical or aggressive. Working through the sourcing, personas, and product strategy also pushed us to think beyond just the garment itself and more about how a product like this would realistically exist in the market, from manufacturing and pricing to branding and user feedback.
